Disadvantages of distance learning

  • Lack of face-to-face interaction
  • Use of learning software may cause difficulty to students who are not so computer and internet savvy
  • Older generation employers may view online degree programs as “not real education” compared to attending an actual campus education.
  • Students need to be very self motivated and disciplined to succeed in an online learning environment. Most online degree programs do not have set class schedules, meaning it is up to students to fit classes into their daily life. Some students may lack the self-motivation and discipline to finish their coursework and are lazy to complete the class work.
